Adult Mental Health
I am a Chartered Clinical Psychologist and completed my doctoral level clinical training at the University of Oxford. I work within the private sector, as well as within the NHS, specialising in the myriad of adult and older adult mental health issues. I am registered with the Health Professions Council (HPC) and am fully accredited with the British Psychological Society (BPS), adhering to their ethical code of conduct. I have full indemnity insurance and have regular supervision supporting my own clinical practice. I am committed to continued professional development and regularly keep abreast of the latest research literature, as well as attending a wide variety of training courses.
I work within a wide range of approaches, specialising in particular in cognitive behavioural therapy, interpersonal psychotherapy, systemic therapy, solution focussed therapy, dialectical behaviour therapy and EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing). I am very mindful that a ‘one size fits all’ approach is not appropriate for working with the complexities that are mental health problems and I therefore tailor my therapeutic approach to suit the needs of each and every individual patient that I work with. I treat each patient I work with, with the same care and respect that I would hope I or any member of my family would receive, if we were ever to be suffering with any mental health issues. I am fully aware that seeking support for your problems in the first instance is an enormously big step and I have genuine admiration for anyone who is brave enough to do this and contemplate change. Changing our ‘old’ habits or behaviours is difficult, but with support and guidance it can be navigated successfully and with change comes enormous opportunity and possibilities. I have real belief, that everyone can change aspects of themselves that do not work for them anymore or work through issues from the past that have remained unsolved.
I am registered and recognised by all major health care insurance providers.
