Overview

Dr Jordi Serra-Mestres is a highly experienced Consultant Psychiatrist with dual accreditation in Old Age and General Adult Psychiatry.

He has special expertise in the assessment and management of memory and other cognitive disorders, and of psychiatric problems in persons with neurological conditions, as well as general old age psychiatry.

He is happy to see patients from the age of 65 onwards.

Training & Experience

Dr Jordi Serra-Mestres qualified in Medicine in Barcelona in 1989 and undertook postgraduate training in Psychiatry in Cambridge and London, achieving his MRCPsych in 1996 and his specialist certificates in 2000.

He has held full registration with the GMC since 1991 and has a license to practice (Reg No 3522138). He is in the GMC’s specialist register for Old Age and General Adult Psychiatry.

He also gained experience in Neuropsychiatry at the Institute of Neurology and at the National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery, where he worked as a Clinical Research Fellow and Honorary Researcher from 1996 to 2003.

Dr Serra-Mestres has worked as a Consultant Old Age Psychiatrist at the Central and North West London NHS Foundation Trust at its Hillingdon Hospital site from 2003 to 2021 when he retired from the NHS. He worked in the community, inpatient wards, and memory clinic, as well as providing liaison psychiatry services to the general hospital. He also held a General Neuropsychiatry Clinic in Hillingdon from 2003 to 2009.

He is a recognised trainer of junior doctors in psychiatry and in general practice. He has also provided teaching to different professional groups and has collaborated closely with the local Admiral Nursing service to provide information and training to carers of persons with dementia.
