Training & Experience
Naz trained at the Tavistock Clinic, London and worked in the NHS for over 25 years as a senior clinician providing Dynamic Psychotherapy services to a range of patients and settings.
He was Clinical Director on the Doctoral Training in Clinical Psychology at the University of East Anglia and Senior Psychotherapist in the Young Person’s Service at Addenbrookes Hospital, Cambridge.
He was also Consultant to the Trauma Programme for The Occupational Psychology Centre (OPC), a specialist service for traumatised train drivers who witness suicides on the track and has worked extensively with patients and staff teams in the NHS in understanding and managing suicidal risk.
His range of experience both within the health service and the commercial sector makes him a versatile clinician with a pragmatic approach to helping patients.
He is currently providing continuing professional development seminars to the Cardinal Clinic Nurse Training Programme and is a Visiting Lecturer at the Tavistock Clinic. He has been a visiting speaker at various training institutes in the UK, Cape Town, South Africa, Washington, D.C and New York.
Naz also has a special interest in social justice projects, both here in the UK, Cape Town, South Africa and the USA, work that he has presented at both National and International Conferences, with publications in professional journals, book chapters and recently in his own book published by Karnac which looks at the unconscious dynamics of prejudice and racism.
