About Dr

Dr Anita Sattar-Jenkins is an HCPC-registered Counselling Psychologist with over 25 years of experience working across NHS mental health services. She holds a Doctorate in Counselling Psychology and Psychotherapy, alongside a Master's degree in Clinical Psychotherapy, a Master's degree in Counselling, a Postgraduate Diploma in Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), a Postgraduate Diploma in Counselling, and a BSc (Hons) in Psychology—a total of six qualifications in psychology, psychotherapy, and counselling.

Throughout her career, Dr Sattar-Jenkins has worked across a wide range of specialist services in both primary and secondary care settings, including CAMHS, CMHT/CMHRS services, inpatient mental health services, substance misuse services, child development services, and GP-integrated mental health teams. She has extensive experience working with children, adolescents, and adults, supporting individuals with a broad range of mental health needs.

Her forensic experience spans high, medium, and low secure services, including specialist trauma-focused treatment units and prison-based mental health services. She has worked nationally across diverse healthcare systems, from Cambridgeshire to Central London, bringing a breadth of experience in service delivery, clinical leadership, and multidisciplinary working.

Alongside her clinical expertise, Dr Sattar-Jenkins has a strong commitment to teaching, mentorship, and workforce development. She has held roles as a visiting lecturer at a University, developed trainee psychology pathways, implemented mentoring initiatives for psychological professionals, and supported the development of future practitioners through supervision, coaching, and leadership.

She has contributed to the wider profession through annual publications and conference presentations, including presentations at the British and Irish Group for the Study of Personality Disorders (BIGSPD) on officer supervision, the British Psychological Society Division of Counselling Psychology on innovations within primary care mental health services, and poster presentations focusing on enhancing diversity within the psychology workforce.

Dr Sattar-Jenkins joins the Cardinal Clinic bringing a wealth of clinical, academic, and leadership experience. She has a specialist interest in neurodiversity and is experienced in the assessment of Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), with a particular passion for supporting individuals to understand their neurodevelopmental profile and access meaningful, formulation-driven interventions. Her approach integrates evidence-based practice with compassion, collaboration, and a commitment to achieving the best possible outcomes for patients and their families.
