Dr Brishna Shah is Medical Director at the Cardinal Clinic and a Consultant Psychiatrist on the GMC Specialist Register in General Adult Psychiatry, with over 25 years’ experience, including 15 years at consultant level. She has worked across NHS and independent settings and previously served as Lead Consultant for ECT at West London Mental Health NHS Trust. Dr Shah specialises in the assessment and treatment of a wide range of mental health conditions, with particular expertise in ADHD across the lifespan. Dr Brishna Shah is a Consultant Psychiatrist on the GMC Specialist Register in General Adult Psychiatry and Medical Director at the Cardinal Clinic. She has over 25 years’ experience in mental health, including more than 15 years at consultant level, working across both NHS and independent healthcare settings. Alongside her clinical practice, Dr Shah has held a number of senior leadership and educational roles. She previously served as Lead Consultant for Electroconvulsive Therapy (ECT) at West London Mental Health NHS Trust and has extensive experience in clinical governance, service development, and multidisciplinary team leadership. Dr Shah provides assessment and treatment for a broad range of mental health conditions. She has a particular specialist interest in ADHD across the lifespan and conducts comprehensive assessments using validated diagnostic tools including the DIVA-5, ASRS, and Conners’ rating scales. She is an Approved Clinician and a Section 12(2) approved doctor under the Mental Health Act, with significant expertise in mental health law, capacity assessments, and medico-legal work. Dr Shah combines extensive clinical expertise with a patient-centred approach, supporting individuals through evidence-based assessment, diagnosis, and treatment planning. Dr Shah has a strong interest in evidence-based psychiatry and the application of research to improve clinical practice and patient outcomes. Her areas of focus include the assessment and treatment of adult mental health conditions, with particular interest in ADHD across the lifespan and the use of validated diagnostic tools in psychiatric assessment. She is also interested in mental health law, capacity assessments, and medico-legal psychiatry, as well as service development and clinical governance to improve standards of care across both NHS and independent mental health services. Dr Shah has held a number of senior roles within the NHS during her consultant career, including Lead Consultant for Electroconvulsive Therapy (ECT) at West London Mental Health NHS Trust. Alongside her clinical work, she has been involved in training and supervision of junior doctors and multidisciplinary teams, contributing to education and service development within psychiatric services.
