Amanda Owen

Clinical Psychologist

Overview

Amanda predominantly works as a neurodevelopmental psychologist, offering specialist assessments for a variety of specific learning disorders (dyslexia, dyspraxia, dyscalculia etc.), ADHD and autism spectrum disorders. She also provides support to families with children with learning disabilities, head injuries and children with sleep problems. She works with families with young children who have a variety of common developmental difficulties e.g. feeding, toileting, sleeping, executive skills etc.

Registered with the British Psychology Society.

Health & Care Professional Council.

On the Faculty of Paediatric Neuropsychology at the BPS, acting as Treasurer.

Training & Experience

Amanda qualified as a clinical psychologist in 1992 and worked in CAMHS and in Children’s Disability in Bexley for 3 years before moving to the Royal Free in 1996. She remained there, working in Community Child Psychology and the Child Development Team  until 2007, when the services were taken over by the Tavistock Clinic. She left the NHS in 2011 to work independently, amongst other things, acting as a consultant to Family Futures (an Adoption Agency)  and providing services at the London Sleepcentre.
