Overview

Paul has over 20 years of experience treating a wide range of psychological problems in adults especially:

Bipolar Disorder, Cognitive and Memory Disorders, Depression including Treatment Resistant Depression, Generalised Anxiety Disorder, Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder, Psychoses, Panic Disorder.

Dr Loughlin’s approach to treatment is holistic, and not focused just on a diagnosis. Paul likes to work in partnership with patients with respect and empathy, sensitive to the cultural diversity of patients. His approach is non-judgemental and he provides a completely confidential service. Paul recommends psychological treatment before medication when safe to do so. Working with a small number of highly experienced and trusted psychologists, his aim is always for patients to make a complete recovery.

Training & Experience

Paul graduated in Medicine from St. Bartholomew’s Hospital, University of London in 1992 and became a member of the Royal College of Psychiatrists in 1997.

He is on the GMC specialists register for General Adult and Older Adult Psychiatry (GMC number 3580987).

Dr Loughlin worked as a Consultant Psychiatrist for Berkshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust from 2001 until 2015.

He started in private practice at the Cardinal Clinic in 2002 and has been working full-time private practice since 2015.
