Mental Health Funding
We would agree that huge investment is well overdue for mental health services. More services based in and therefore easily accessible by primary care would be a welcome addition to well resourced secondary care services. A module in teacher training on mental health would be the icing on the cake. Indeed, performance does vary hugely around the UK. Its still a post code lottery.
Young People
In terms of its impact on young people this is not just and issue for child and adolescent services but also for adult services, to which they migrate to at the age of 18 if needed. All to often children are not given the help they deserve but also, those that do get hep under the age of 18, lose this on graduation to adult services. Help for children with ADHD and autism is often lacking once they reach the age of 18 and more needs to be done to plug the gap.
