GP Referrals
If you would like a patient to be seen at Cardinal Clinic, please send a referral letter to our Referrals Coordinator.
Please include the patient’s previous medical and psychiatric history and prescription history.
If you have a specific clinician you would like to refer your patient to then please make a direct referral to that consultant. If you would like us to assist you in identifying the most appropriate consultant please get in touch with our Referrals Coordinator or leave us to assign a clinician with our open referrals programme.
All our Consultant Psychiatrists are experienced in treating general psychiatric conditions. However, some have additional levels of expertise These are set out on our Clinicians Page which can be found at the following link: Our Clinicians
Please Note:
Our Child and Adolescent team is under a lot of pressure at the current time. Demand has increased substantially during the Covid pandemic and is out-stripping our availability of clinicians. We are running a waiting list at present but it is not fair to patients to extend this beyond a few months. At times we will be forced to refuse new referrals.
We understand that other institutions are facing similar challenges and this must be very difficult for families trying to get access to clinicians urgently. If you are facing a mental health crisis then please review the link at the top of our home page or speak to your GP. In an emergency please call 999.
GP Training
Cardinal Clinic is committed to providing Continual Professional Development for GPs. This is delivered through our 12×12 programme of monthly educational seminars and through GP Surgery visits.
GP Practice Training
We can arrange for one of our Consultants to come to your surgery at a time convenient to you. We can provide a sandwich lunch and CPD certificates if required. Often GPs will request the topic they would like to be discussed; the talk lasts for approximately 1 hour with the opportunity for a Q & A session at the end. There is no charge for this service.
12×12 Seminar Programme
Our 12×12 programme is delivered by one of our consultants or psychologists and takes an in-depth look at a mental health topic. The sessions take place in our lecture theatre at Cardinal Clinic.
The meeting starts at 7.30pm and finishes at 9.30pm. A buffet supper is provided and CPD certificate awarded.
Please note: the content of the meeting is targeted to GPs and healthcare professionals and therefore we cannot extend the invitation to patients, their families or carers.
Please Note:
Our 12×12 programme has been temporarily suspended during the Coronavirus pandemic to protect our staff, clinicians and patients. We look forward to recommencing this, when the situation allows.
