About Cardinal Clinic
The Main House, known as Bishops Lodge, has evolved over many years and dates back to as early as the 1600s. Since 1976 it has been the home of Cardinal Clinic and over the past 40 years has been extensively renovated, extended and improved. Additional buildings have been constructed to meet growing demand and the 10 acre estate has been beautifully landscaped to provide the sort of environment which support recovery.
All our buildings have a wealth of character whether it’s the ancient timbers of Bishops Hall or the quirky design of The Octagon.
The ten acre estate has beautifully manicured flower beds, vegetable patches, lawn areas for relaxing or exercising and footpaths to explore. We encourage our patients to enjoy the grounds and believe it makes a contribution to their recovery.
Our gardening team encourages patients to get involved in the maintenance of the estate and provides classes for in-patients who wish to get a little ‘green fingered’.
We believe physical exercise can contribute to a patient’s recovery and plays a large part in overall wellbeing. Our large, heated, indoor swimming pool provides the perfect way to exercise and relax for in-patients. We also have an area with some limited gym equipment and plenty of opportunities to enjoy the outdoors with a number of footpaths running across the estate.
In-patients will be invited to join the yoga classes which run on a weekly basis.
In-patients have access to two patient’s lounges. A quiet lounge in the Music Room and a Television Lounge which has Sky TV. Our library has plenty of books and jigsaw puzzles as well as board games to enjoy with fellow patients, of an evening.
There is a selection of instruments for patients with a musical aptitude.
We also have a patient’s laundry which patients are welcome to use as required.
Our chef and his team produce great quality food. The menu is overseen by our Nutritional Therapist so you can be sure it is as good for you as it tastes! We are very experienced at managing food preferences and allergies. Patients just have to let us know of any specific requirements.
All meals are taken in the Patient’s Dining Room.
We have 23 in-patient bedrooms. These vary in size but all have an ensuite bathrooms. We have a dedicated bedroom for patients with limited mobility and three bedrooms for patients who require intensive support during their stay.
In total there are 28 consulting rooms where you can receive one-to-one sessions. There are also three rooms used for group therapy. They are all comfortably appointed and provide a relaxing atmosphere where you can feel safe to discuss your care with our clinicians.
