Some mental health patients in England are being denied timely treatment promised by the government, figures revealed.
Unfortunately the NHS will always struggle to achieve targets because of financial restraints. The two week target would be virtually impossible to achieve on current squeezed budgets.
Early intervention is incredibly important in psychosis as every episode causes an irreversible decline. Not many new cases occur over the age of 35 so it is particularly distressing to see 35+ year olds being discriminated against in this way. What they are missing out on primarily is intensive psychological therapy.
